Project Description
This five-storey building right at the foothills of Acropolis accommodates the Nordic Library. It is the point of reference for every Scandinavian researcher of classical studies in Greece, containing 40.000 volumes, some of which are characterized as unique collections so rare that demand special care.
Entropy’s team in collaboration with the specific academic institute reassures that the ideal conditions are constantly met for the sensitive content of the building while at the same time creating a pleasant and comfortable climate for the researchers that arrive as daily visitors.
A central surveillance and immediate notice system has been installed within the building, that triggers in case that any fire incident occurs. Moreover inside the department where the rare archives are stored a Carbon Dioxide extinguishing system is operating as an extra measure against fire. At the same ward an electronic system of constant atmosphere stabilizes temperature and humidity, in order to eliminate any fluctuations that would severely harm the irreplaceable content.
The central air-conditioning system is independently regulated inside every study room of the library where tight acoustic specifications apply, in order to avoid any noise irritation. Finally, since the owners of the institute are clearly in favor of sustainability and eager a building of minimum energy consumption a heat recovery system is integrated together with the ventilation system of the property.
